Is Lyme Disease of Concern to You?
If Not, It should Be!

Lyme disease is the fastest growing vector borne disease in North America! If not caught and treated early, symptoms can progress and become debilitating - or even end in death!

In a 2016 article in MacLean's Magazine, Canada's Chief Public Health Officer at the time, Dr. Gregory Taylor, said the annual figures for Lyme are likely under-reported.

“We have estimates it could be thousands of Canadians getting infected, not just several hundred, and that is worrisome,” Taylor said in an interview from Ottawa." - http://www.macleans.ca/society/health/lyme-disease-cases-rising-in-canada-climate-change-cited-as-a-probable-factor/

Not happy with how the country is dealing, or not dealing, with the issue? Then please consider being involved with "VOCAL - Voices of Canadians About Lyme" which is a coordinated, cross-Canada initiative resulting in Lyme awareness events taking place in every province on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

We still need people to help with the coordination of events but, more importantly, we need people to say that they will be in attendance on June 3rd so that the people coordinating the events know it won't all be for naught!

Please consider helping out but, more importantly please mark Saturday, June 3, 2017 on your calendar - in pen!

There are Lyme awareness/education events happening throughout Canada on June 3, 2017.

We will be adding information on each event as it becomes available.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia event is being held from 12 noon until 5 pm in Ondaatje Hall, Dalhousie University, University Avenue, Halifax. There is an incredible slate of speakers that you don't want to miss.

Dr. Richard Dubocq from Albion, Maine is our Keynote. Dr. Dubocq is a "Lyme Literate" physician whose patients include many from Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Provinces. He has a wealth of knowledge about tick borne diseases.

Mr. Bob Giguere of IGeneX will also be in attendance. As most dealing with tick borne diseases know, IGeneX is the lab of choice for accurate Lyme testing. However, the results are generally not accepted by Canadian Doctors for a variety of reasons, most, if not all, are invalid.

Dalhousie University is undertaking tick testing. Two teams from the University will be speaking about their testing and results that they are seeing.

Dr. Bryan Rade, a "Lyme Literate" Naturopath, is on the agenda, as is Andrew Hebda from the Museum of Natural History. There will also be Lyme sufferers providing brief stories of their journey to date.
